“I am thirsty,” said the seed.

“I need some water to drink.”

Just then, tiny drops of rain

fell from the sky.

Soon it was dark.

The little seed closed its eyes and

went to sleep.

The next morning, the little seed

peeped out of the ground.

Now it had a little green shoot.

“It’s so warm out here,” it said.

And it sat in the sun all day.

In a few days, it had two tiny leaves.

“I am so hungry,” it said.

I need some food to eat.”

The leaves made food and the little plant

grew bigger and bigger.

Some hungry birds tried to

pull out the plant but its roots

helped it stay in the ground.
