One night, there was a big storm. There was
thunder and lightning. It was raining heavily. The
next morning Sher Singh went towards the tracks
as usual. But what did he see there? A huge rock
on the tracks! There was very little time left for
the express train to come.
Sher Singh heard the whistle of the express
train at a distance. He tried to push the rock
but it was too heavy. He had to act quickly.
He had an idea.
He quickly removed his shirt and tied it to a long stick.
Then he lit it with a matchstick. He stood in the
middle of the track and waved the cloth. The
train was coming over the hill.
The engine driver saw the boy waving the
cloth and stopped the train.
“Are you mad?” the angry driver said. “Why
are you standing here? Do you want to die?”
“Look at this, sir,” said Sher Singh pointing
to the rock. What idea did Sher Singh
come up with to stop the train?
“Oh my God! You have saved all of us.
I am really sorry, dear,” said the driver. “Thank
you very much.”
The passengers also got down. They thanked
Sher Singh because he had saved their lives.
The next day Sher Singh’s name appeared in
the newspapers. He had become a hero.
