Androcles felt sorry for the lion. He went up to the lion. He saw a big thorn

on its swollen paw. He quickly pulled out the thorn. He covered the wound

with a piece of cloth. In a few days, the wound on the lion’s paw healed.

A few days later, some men saw Androcles roaming in the streets. They tied

him and took him to their master. The master put him in prison. He ordered

that Androcles be thrown before a hungry lion.

On the day Androcles was to be thrown before the lion, a huge crowd gathered

at the spot. Androcles was first locked in a big cage. Then the hungry lion

was let in. Androcles stood in the corner of the cage shaking with fear.

The lion roared angrily and rushed towards Androcles. But suddenly, it

stopped roaring. It slowly went up to Androcles. It sat down beside him and

licked his hands! It was the same lion Androcles had

happened, he was deeply touched. He ordered that Androcles be set free.
