Billu brushes his teeth and is again in bed. “Billu, now
get ready or you’ll be late to school,” his mother
says. “I am too ill to go to school,” he says.
Who tells Billu to wake up?
“Stop making excuses, Billu. Have this milk first.”
“Ouch, it hurts. I am too ill to drink this,” he says.
Billu has a sore throat. “Have this medicine. You’ll
feel better,” says his mother. “No, no, I am too ill
to take it,” Billu says.
Billu is coughing and sneezing. By noon, he
has a headache. “Ouch! It hurts.” “Take this
medicine, dear,”
What happens to Billu by noon?

says. But Billu
doesn’t take the medicine.
By evening, he has a fever. “Oh dear,” says his
mother. “I will call up the doctor.”
“I am too ill to see the doctor,” says Billu.
Dr. Pinto arrives at 7 o’clock. He is carrying
a bag. He examines Billu carefully. “He
has a throat infection. Give him this
medicine,” he says.
