Red is for roses,

And blue is for sky,

White is for snow,

Or a cloud sailing by.

Silver’s for rain,

With the sun shining through,

Yellow’s for butter,

And buttercups too.

Black is for black birds,

And gold for their beaks,

Green is for leaves,

And for meadows and hills.

Grey is for night,

When all colours sleep,

And morning’s for all of them,

Up and shining again.
