There lived a little fir tree on the slope of a mountain. It was
a pretty tree, but it always seemed unhappy. The other
trees had bright, green leaves. The birds made their
nests on their branches.
“My leaves are so stiff and long. Birds can’t make
nests on my branches. How I wish I had soft, green
leaves!” the fir tree said.
The fairy of the trees heard this. Who heard the
wish of the fir tree?
She waved her magic wand.
