His mother came in and gave him a glass of milk,

“Have this first,” she said and went into the

kitchen. Sachin quickly gulped down
the milk and sat down to watch

the show.

His mother was

cleaning the dishes,
pots and pans in the

kitchen. She had

a lot of work to
do. But then, she

suddenly began to
feel sick.

She decided to rest for a while and then finish the work. “Sachin, breakfast is ready,”

she said and off she went to bed. Sachin did not reply.

He was so busy watching the show that he did not notice that his mother was sick.

And he did not see her walking into the bedroom either.

After the show, Sachin called out, “Mama, can I have breakfast? I am hungry.” But

there was no reply. Sachin went into the kitchen. Mama was not there. The kitchen
was in a mess. “Where is mama?” he wondered.

“She must be watering the plants,” he thought and went into Why didn’t Sachin find his

the garden. But she wasn’t there. Then he came in and looked mother in the garden?

He saw his mother lying on the bed. “Mama, are you alright?” he asked. “I am okay,
but I need to rest for a while,” his mother said. Sachin felt sad. He knew she was sick

because she never rested during the day.

So while his mother rested, Sachin went into the kitchen and cleaned all the pots and

pans. Then he scrubbed the floor clean. The kitchen was sparkling clean. Sachin was
pleased with himself.

“Mama will be very happy to see this,” he thought. Then he ate his breakfast.

When Sachin’s mother woke up, it was twelve o’clock. She felt better, but she was
