A. Use of ‘Unless’
Read the sentences below:
Unless you restore my eyesight, I will not pay give you anything.
This sentence means: If you don’t restore my eyesight, I will not pay you anything.
Rewrite the following sentences as shown in the example using ‘unless’.
Example : If you don’t have a ticket, you cannot enter.
Unless you have a ticket, you cannot enter.
1. If you don’t leave early, you’ll be late.

B. Direct and Indirect Speech
Read the following sentences.
“I can make you see again,” said the physician.
The physician said that he could make her see again.
The first sentence quotes the exact words of the speaker. It is in direct speech. The
second sentence reports the words of the speaker. It is in indirect or reported speech.
Rewrite the sentences in indirect speech. Make changes in the words underlined. The
first one is done for you.
1. He said, “The test is difficult.”
He said that the test was difficult.
