The girl put her hand into the bag

and took out a pebble. Without
looking at it, she fumbled and let
it fall onto the pebble-strewn path

          where it immediately became lost
          among all the pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said.

“But never mind , if you look into
the bag for the one that is left, you

will be able to tell which pebble I
picked. Since the pebble left in the
bag is black, it can be assumed that
I had picked the white one.” And

since the moneylender didn’t dare to admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an
impossible situation into an advantageous one.

The debt of the merchant was waived off, and his young and beautiful daughter did not have
to marry the old and ugly moneylender!

How did the merchant’s daughter manage to solve a complex problem? Well, it’s just that

she could view the problem from a different perspective and find a creative, yet effective
          solution.

This is what we called ‘Thinking out of the box’. It is an idiom which means to think differently
or unconventionally. It is about a creative approach to problems. It is to find innovative
          solutions to challenging problems.

But did you know that most people are stuck in the box? This is because they have a fear of

uncertainty and the desire to be in the comfort zone.

But if you understand the benefits of ‘Thinking out of the box’ you will probably consider
          coming out of the box.

Scientists could make new inventions because they chose to break out of the figurative box.
We wouldn’t have inventors if they had chosen to play conventional roles.

When you think out of the box, the quality of the work you do is superior because there
are no limitations, no boundaries. You are not bound by certain ways of doing some work

according to expectations of others or fitting in with the routine model.

This facilitates free thinking, unrestrained by others’ opinion. You don’t see the world
through a lens of rules or a code of conduct. This lends itself well to creativity and innovation,
