Arrow-Puffin-1_Semester-1 EVS 213Uses of AirAir has many uses.Fire needs air to burn.Look and tellTake a candle and fix it on a small lid or plate. Light it with a matchstick. Place a glass tumbler over the burning candle. What do you observe?..........................................................................Air fills space. It occupies all empty spaces.Like everything around us, air also has weight.Do and tellTie string around the middle of a long, thin stick. Tape blown up balloons of the same size to either end of the stick. Hold the string at the top. The balloons balance. Now prick one of the balloons to remove the air.The balloon with air in it will make the balance tip down. Can you guess why?................................................................................................................................................................................Do and tellWhen you blow into a balloon, it becomes big. Why do you think so?................................................................When there is no air, things cannot burn.Take a small plastic bag. Flatten it and then turn it around you. See how the air fills up the bag and puffs it up.Find it outDoes air have colour, taste and smell?!
