Out comes the sun And little drops of rain. Out comes the plant And starts to grow, grow. MAIN PARTS OF A PLANT Look closely at any plant and you can see two main parts-the root and the shoot. ROOTYou cannot see the roots of a plant because they grow under the ground. They spread downwards holding the plant in place and sucking up water and minerals from the soil. Many plants have a main root called the tap root with tiny bunches of roots growing out from it. Some examples are carrots, radish and mustard. When a number of roots grow from the end of the stem, they are called fibrous roots. Some examples are wheat, rice and onion.
