Arrow-Puffin-4_Semester-1 Maths 175DIVISIBILITY TESTSA number is said to be divisible by another number if there is no remainder left after the division. To test, if a number is divisible by a certain number without doing actual division, we can follow the rules given below.Divisibility by 2A number is divisible by 2, if the last digit is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8.Examples : %u2022 1,24,670%u2022 24,33,758 All are divisble by 2 since the last digits of the numbers %u2022 32,85,602 are 0, 8 or 2.In other words, all even numbers are divisible by two.Divisibility by 3A number is divisible by 3, if sum of all the digits is divisible by 3.Example 1 : Find 2,430 is divisible by 3.Sum of the digits = 2 + 4 + 3 + 0 = 9Sum of the digits is divisible by 3.Therefore, 2,430 is divisible by 3.Example 2 : Find 134 is divisible by 3.Sum of the digits = 1 + 3 + 4 = 8Sum of the digits is not divisible by 3. Therefore, 134 is not divisible by 3.Divisibility by 4A number is divisible by 4, if the number formed by the tens and ones digits is divisible by 4. If the last two digits are 00 then it is divisible by 4.Example 1 : Find 15,424 is divisible by 4.The digits in tens and ones places are 2 and 4.24 is divisible by 4.Therefore, 15,424 is also divisible by 4.2520 is the smallest number that can be exactly divided by all the numbers 1 to 10 and it was discovered by an Indian Mathematician - S.
