204 Arrow-Puffin-4_Semester-1 MathsObjective: To develop the concept of equivalent fractionsMaterials Required: A rectangular paper sheet, pencilMethod: 1. Fold the paper sheet into half by folding from the middle so that the opposite edges overlap each other. Press firmly on the fold to make a crease.2. Unfold the paper. The crease has divided the sheet into two equal halves.3. Shade one half of this sheet by pencil. The fraction for the shaded part is 12.4. Now fold the paper to make the other pair of opposite edges meet. Make a firm crease.5. Unfold the sheet. It is now divided into four equal parts.6. In this situation, fraction for the shaded part = 24.7. Fold the paper along the earlier creases. Fold this folded sheet for the third time. Press firmly to make a crease.8. Unfold the paper. It is now divided into eight equal parts.9. In this situation the fraction for the shaded parts = 48.Maths Lab Activity Experimental LearningLet%u2019s Explore Experiential LearningWhat happens when you multiply a fraction by its reciprocal?Teacher%u2019s NoteEncourage students to look for patterns when simplifying fractions.Use everyday examples to teach the concept of fractions, like sharing a chocolate bar or dividing a pizza.
