A family does not simply

include the family members who live with us in our home. Our family also

includes all close relatives and their families who do not live with us, but visit us
on special occasions. This large family is referred to as an extended family.

Members of the family who live together in the same house are called

immediate family.

Our relatives come from near and far to celebrate major occasions with us. They

gather for festivals, family weddings and infant births. They also get together
during a family member’s illness or death.
