very angry. It looked at the other kites
going higher and higher.
“Let me go up, up, up
and touch the sky,”
thought the kite. So it
tugged very hard and before
Tinku could do anything the
string snapped !
Tinku saw his kite sailing
up and up into the air. He ran
hoping that it would come down.
But it flew higher into the sky. He was
very sad. He had lost his beautiful yellow
kite. He went home crying.
What was it that the kite did
But the kite didn’t care. It said proudly, “ I am now free to go not care about?
where I wish. I shall fly high and touch the sky.” The kite was
simply delighted that it did not belong to anyone. But suddenly the wind stopped
blowing and the kite stopped flying. It came down, down, down to the Earth and
dived straight into a small pond. The kite was cold and wet. “Oh!” said the kite,
“I am sinking.” It wanted to fly. Now it wished that Tinku would come and save it.
But Tinku was nowhere around!
A little dog came by and saw the kite in the pond and brought it out. The dog scratched
the kite with his paws and left it on the bank. The kite lay there with two big holes
in it. Soon the sun and the wind dried the kite. Then there

was a sudden gust of wind. The wind lifted the kite and off it and wind dried the kite?

The kite was very excited. It was in the sky again. “I shall not go down again. I shall
go up till I reach the moon. And I will stay up there,” it said.
But very soon, it dipped again and fell into a garbage bin.
A little later, the wind lifted it up again. But now, it did not have a tail. The tail got
cut and was left behind in the bin!
