          A. Conjunctions - and , but, because

The words and, because and but are called conjunctions.

              Conjunctions are joining words.

They join two or more words, group of words or sentences.

We use and to join sentences when their meanings go well together.

We use but to join sentences when their meanings contrast with each other.

We use because to join sentences when we want to give the reason for
                  something.

              Read these sentences.

The people were unhappy because the town was full of rats.
The rats ran about and ate all the food they could find.

They talked for a long time but could not think of a solution.

Fill in the blanks with and, but or because.

              2. We played well ___________________ we lost the game.

If you do not keep your promise, I will play on my pipe again.

We use ‘If’ to show that a condition has to be fulfilled for something to happen.
