The holy man looked at the little mouse. It had shiny black

eyes and a curly tail. He liked it so much that he decided

to take it home. He put the little mouse on a soft bed
in his room. As the holy man lay down on his bed,

he heard a cat mewing in his room. The cat was
walking softly towards the little mouse. The holy

man saw the danger and uttered some magic

words. At once the little mouse changed into a
little girl. The holy man brought up the little mouse

maid with a lot of love and care.

Years went by. The little girl grew up into a beautiful young lady. She looked as lovely

as a princess. The holy man thought, “It is time to look for a suitable husband for

my daughter.” But who would make a good husband for his daughter? The holy man
wanted her husband to be stronger and greater than anyone.

“I think the sun would be the right choice,” he said to himself. With his magical

powers he called the sun down. “Will you marry my daughter?” the holy man asked.
Before the sun could say anything, the mouse maid said, “Father, the sun is too hot.

I cannot go near him. I don’t want to marry him.”

The holy man felt sad. He asked the sun if there was anyone greater than him. The

sun said, “ Yes, the cloud is stronger. When he covers me, I cannot shine.”

Then the holy man called the cloud down. But the mouse maid did not allow the
holy man to talk to the cloud. She said, “I

                                                          cannot marry him.
                                                                                        Why did the mouse maid
He looks so dark.” refuse to marry the cloud?
                                                          The holy man was

disappointed to hear this. He asked the cloud
if there was anyone greater than him. “Yes,” the

cloud said. “The wind is surely greater. When

he blows, I can’t stand in a place”.

The holy man called the wind. The wind came
down. The holy man said, “I want you to marry

my daughter.” But before the wind could reply, the
