A little while later, a Levite happened to pass that way. He slowed down when he saw
the merchant and came close to him. “He will surely help me,” the merchant said to
himself.” But the levite too crossed over to the other side of the road and soon walked
out of sight.
After some time, another man came walking. He was a Samaritan. And Jews didn’t like
Samaritans at all. So they didn’t treat Samaritans very well. The

But when the Samaritan saw the merchant, he got off his donkey and came towards
him. He gently lifted the merchant and made him sit up. He gave him some water to
drink. He knelt by his side and asked him softly what happened. With great difficulty,
the merchant told him about the robbers. The Samaritan made the merchant sit on his
donkey and took him to a nearby inn. He cleaned and dressed his wounds. Then he got
him some food to eat. He paid some money to the inn keeper and left the merchant in
his care.
