Arya : Good evening, uncle. What is required for a robot
to perform a new task?
Mr Verma : Good evening, dear! What’re you guys talking
about?
Nitin : I was telling him about Robbi, daddy.
Mr Verma : Oh, is it? But Arya, this is just one of the many types of robots. What
you see here is a domestic robot, designed to do only domestic chores.
Arya : What are the other types, uncle?
Mr Verma : The most popular robots today are the industrial robots. They can do a
large number of tasks like picking up objects, assembling things, welding,
spray painting and many other mechanical, repetitive tasks.
Arya : How else can they be used, uncle?
Mr Verma : Now robots are being built to work on farms to help a farmer or in
hospitals to assist doctors. They will also be used to perform dangerous
tasks like coal mining, sea bed mining, detecting a bomb and defusing
it and also in space studies. Well, the scope is endless.
Arya : All this is very interesting, uncle.
Mr Verma : Yes, and robots will also be of great service to mankind.
Arya : Thank you very much, uncle. Nitin, now I have a topic for my project
too!
Nitin : What is it?
Arya : Robots, of course.
