                                    5. What is photosynthesis?6. Where is the extra food prepared by leaves stored?7. Differentiate between tap and fibrous roots. 8. What is germination? Let%u2019s Think Critical ThinkingCan a plant grow in complete darkness? Why / Why not?Let%u2019s Discuss CommunicationDiscuss in class the different parts of a plant and their functions.Let%u2019s Do Experimental LearningGrow a new plant! You can grow a new plant from the top of a carrot. Slice off the top of a carrot and plant it in a saucer of water. Water it and in about two weeks, leaves begin to sprout. Plant it in the soil and see what happens. Can you see tiny new roots?Let%u2019s Explore Experiential Learninga. See how water travels up a stem! Add some food colour (blue) to some water and pour it into a jar. Cut a celery stem with leaves and place it in the jar. After a few hours, you will see that the stem and leaves turn blue because the coloured water makes its way up the stem and then into the leaves. b. Plants give out oxygen during photosynthesis%u2022 Put some fresh green leaves in a bowl of water and leave them in the sunlight.%u2022 You will see some bubbles coming out. Do you know why?%u2022 The leaves send out oxygen into the water.224 Arrow-Puffin-3_Semester-1 Science
