                                    Inside the small intestine, some more digestive juices are added to the food and it is completely digested. The small intestine is lined with thousands of finger-shaped projections called villi. These villi contain a network of blood vessels that absorb the nutrients from your food. From the villi, the nutrients enter your blood.The liver and the pancreas are not a part of the digestive system but they are important because they help to filter, store and prepare the nutrients that have passed through the small intestine. The liver and pancreas also do other important jobs in the body. The liver filters your blood to remove wastes and the pancreas control the sugar levels in your blood.The digestion of food starts in the mouth and ends in the small intestine.The process doesn%u2019t end here. There is some undigested food your body can%u2019t use. It is pushed into your large intestine.The large intestine absorbs water and any nutrients that are still present in the food. The undigested food now becomes more solid. It remains in your large intestine and passes out of your body through the anus, when you go to the toilet.A HEALTHY DIGESTIVE SYSTEMYour health depends on your digestive system. If your food is not digested properly, your body does not get all that it needs to function well.
