Rotation
The Earth spins on its axis. The movement of
the Earth on its axis is called rotation. Axis is an
imaginary line that passes from the North Pole to
the South Pole through the center of the Earth.

Know? The earth’s axis passes through two extreme locations, known as
poles. The northernmost point of the Earth is the North Pole. It is
located in the Arctic Ocean. The southernmost point on the Earth
is the South Pole. It is located in Antarctica.
The Earth rotates from West to East. Earth takes 24 hours to complete one
rotation. Rotation of the Earth causes day and night.
While rotating on its axis the Earth also moves around the sun in a fixed
path. The fixed imaginary path is known as orbit.
