Out Who is an astronaut? What is astronomy?
Stars shine all day and all night. We cannot see
them during the day because the sky is too bright
with sunlight.
Some groups of stars form shapes in the sky. They
are called constellations. Winter sky is the best
time to observe constellations. Orion, Leo and Big
dipper are some of the constellations.

Amazing Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system, with a temperature of 450
Facts degrees Celsius. It’s hotter than Mercury, which is nearer to the Sun.
Let’s Recall
Our solar system is made up of the sun and eight planets – Mercury, Venus,
Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Earth has air and water and it is the only planet that supports life.
The Earth is spherical in shape.
The Earth has two types of movements – rotation and revolution.
Rotation of the Earth causes day and night. Earth takes 24 hours to complete
one rotation.
Revolution of the Earth causes seasons. Earth takes 365 ¼ days to complete
one revolution.
The Moon is the Earth’s only natural satellite.
The moon appears to change its shape every night. The shapes of the moon
are called the phases of the moon.
The Sun is the closest star to the Earth.
Groups of stars form shapes in the sky called constellations.
