          Insects


          We see many tiny creatures with legs and colourful wings all around us.

          These are called as insects. They can creep, crawl, slide, jump or fly.
          The most common insects we see around us are ant, butterfly, mosquito,

          cockroach,  housefly,  spider, etc. Some insects

          Body parts of an insect

          Insects don’t have a backbone. They have soft bodies.

          The body of an insect is divided into three parts – the head, the thorax and

          the abdomen.                                                           Wings

          The thorax consists of three pairs of legs and a pair of wings. Insects like
          bees, flies, butterflies and mosquitoes have wings and can fly. Insects like

          ants and termites do not have wings and cannot fly.

          The abdomen helps insects to digest their food.
