Types of Wastes
All the waste or garbage is not uniform. Waste
or garbage comes from different sources.
Waste can be classified into two types –
biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes.
Some waste materials decompose easily and
get mixed with soil. Such wastes are called
bio-degradable wastes. Kitchen waste like Bio-degradable wastes
vegetable and fruit peels, egg shells, leftover food and other wastes like dead
plants and leaves, newspapers, etc. are all biodegradable wastes.
Some waste materials do not decompose
or get mixed with soil. Such wastes are
called non-biodegradable wastes. Plastic,
metal and glass are non-biodegradable
wastes. This type of waste increases the
load of trash and makes our environment
unhealthy and unclean.

Waste Disposal
We should never throw waste in the open as it attracts insects and flies. They
spread diseases in human beings and other animals. Therefore, we must dispose
of waste properly.
We should segregate the bio-degradable
and non-biodegradable waste separately.
Bio-degradable waste is wet waste and
non-biodegradable waste is dry waste. We
should use a green bin for bio-degradable
waste and a blue bin for non-biodegradable waste.
