Rajasthan, India. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award
in 2001 for his pioneering work in community-based water
harvesting and storage.
Dr. Rajendra Singh launched a campaign to save water, revive rivers, and protect
forests and animals. It created 11,000 rainwater storage tanks in Rajasthani
communities. He restored traditional water storage practices in Rajasthani
communities that had been abandoned for decades by providing water to them.
Life Skills and Values
Making the best of waste involves creating something useful and innovative
from stuff that would otherwise be thrown away. There are hundreds of methods
to make the most of domestic garbage by creating unique and decorative home
decor items rather than discarding them.
If we are unaware of adequate waste management, we will face serious effects
such as air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution. Small habits in our daily
lives can have a big effect. This reduces pollution in the environment and helps
to protect the natural resources.
