Schools have big playgrounds where children
play. They also give all of the necessary sports
equipment for play. Every class has a sports
period in a week. Some schools also arrange for
indoor games such as table tennis, chess, and
gymnastics.

Sports competitions are held in most of the schools every year. The winners are
trained so that they excel in inter-school sports competitions. Champions go for
state-level, national and international level competitions.
The Olympic Games are an international sporting event conducted every four years.

Know? The Summer Games and Winter Games are held separately. These games were named
after Olympia, a sacred place on the western coast of Southern Greece’s Peloponnese
peninsula.
Games have a set of rules to play
Every game follows a set of rules. When the children first learn the game, these
rules are made clear. We should always follow them. Cheating in a game is very
bad. If we lose, we must take it without complaining.
