A boy was born on 9 September 1890, in Henryville, Indiana in the United States. Brought
up in a simple middle-class family, the boy grew up in the loving care of his parents. His father

worked on the farm. When he was five years old, one summer afternoon, his father came
home with a fever. He saw his father in pain, but did not understand what was going on. That
day, the doctor was called twice and he saw his mother crying. He got scared because that was

the first time he saw her crying. Later
that day, his father passed away.

After his father’s death, his mother

started working in a factory. She
also starting sewing clothes of other
people. At 7, he learned how to cook,

and feed his younger siblings in his
mother’s absence.

One day, he baked his first bread and
he wanted to show it to his mother.

He walked to the factory which was
three miles away. His mother saw

him from far, carrying a loaf of bread
in his hand with a huge smile on his
face.
