Balanced Diet
We have to eat a healthy diet to stay
healthy and energetic. Diet is the food
that we eat regularly every day.
A diet that contains all five nutrients –
carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins
and minerals in proper amounts is
called a balanced diet. It also contains
roughage and water.

A balanced diet keeps us healthy and happy.
Cooking
Some food can be eaten raw, while others need to be cooked before eating.
Cooking softens the food, making it easier to chew and digest.
Cooking with Water
Food is cooked in many ways. Food is cooked
with water by boiling and steaming.
Boiling: It is the simplest method of cooking
food. We cook rice, pulses, eggs and some
vegetables by boiling. Milk is boiled to kill germs

Steaming: It is the method of cooking that works
by boiling water, which vaporizes into steam. The
steam carries heat to the food. We make idlis,
dhoklas and momos by steaming.
