All living things grow. As time passes, small living things
become bigger in size. Animals grow in size till a particular
time. Plants grow throughout their lifetime. We too grow.

Non-living things cannot grow. For example, a small stone does not grow
into a big rock.

Know? Non-living things grow through accretion. Accretion is the process of growth or
expansion by slow buildup. It is done by adding materials externally. For example,
a snowball may grow in size as it collects smaller units on its outer surface.
Living things need food and water
All living things need food and water to live. Food gives them energy to do
work and also keeps them healthy. Most animals get their food and water
from their surroundings. Some animals get their food from plants or other
animals. Plants make their food in their leaves with the help of air, water
and sunlight.
