5. Parts of a Plant

We know that there are different parts in our body. These parts help us to

do different activities. Similarly, other living beings also have similar body

parts that are different in shape and size.

Plants also have different parts that carry out different functions. Let us

learn about different parts of a plant.

A Root and A Shoot

Observe a potted plant in your house. You can see only a
part of the plant above the soil in the pot which is called the

shoot. Now slowly remove the plant from the soil. You will

see the part of the plant that is below the soil which is called

the root. We cannot see the root as it is under the soil.
