2. Global Warming
Read the passages and answer the questions that follow.

Global warming is a significant environmental issue that affects our planet. It refers to the gradual
          increase in Earth’s average temperature
due to human activities. One of the main
causes of global warming is the excessive
emission of greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. These
gases trap heat from the sun, leading to a
rise in temperature. As a result, our climate
          patterns are changing causing various
impacts on the environment and living
          organisms.
The effects of global warming are far-
          reaching. One noticeable consequence is
the melting of polar ice caps and glaciers.
This leads to rising sea levels, which pose a
threat to coastal areas and low-lying areas.
Additionally, global warming disrupts ecosystems, affecting plants and animals. Extreme weather
events like hurricanes and heat waves are also becoming more frequent and intense due to global
          warming.

Addressing global warming requires collective action. We can all contribute by reducing our carbon
footprint. This can be done by conserving energy using renewable sources of energy and practising
sustainable habits like recycling and reducing waste. By working together, we can mitigate the effects
of global warming and create a healthier and more sustainable future for our planet.
