The pulp goes down into the root of the tooth which is under the gum. The root holds the tooth firmly in place. Now open your mouth wide and look at the teeth in the front and at the back of the mouth in a mirror. What do you notice?TYPES OF TEETHYou notice that all the teeth in your mouth do not look alike. What are the different types of teeth you have? Let us learn all about them. Your mouth has four different types of teeth. The two front teeth and the teeth on either side of them are the incisors. You have four incisors at the top and four at the bottom. Incisors are chisel-shaped. They help you cut, chop and slice food. When you bite into an apple, you use your incisors.Next to incisors are sharp, pointed canines. There are four of them, two at the top and two at the bottom. They help you tear food.Open your mouth a bit wider. You can see the premolarsnext to your canines. You have eight premolars in all, four at the top and four at the bottom. If you can open your mouth really wide, you will see your molars. You have eight of these, four at the top and four at the bottom. The premolars and molars are flat and broad and help you chew and grind the food.276 Arrow-Puffin-4_Semester-1 ScienceCan you name the different types of teeth and their functions?CheckpointHumans use four different types of teeth (incisors, canines, premolars, and molars) to cut, tear and grind their food.Did you know?incisorscaninespremolarsmolars
