Makar Sankranthi
Makar Sankr anthi
Seasonal changes are a reason for joy in an
agricultural country like India since they indicate
when farmers should be harvesting new crops.
Makar Sankranti is the harvest time for Rabi crops,
which include wheat, barley, grams, maize, and
more, as well as Kharif crops like sugarcane and
paddy. It is India’s oldest and most famous food
festival. People make and eat a wide range of
traditional foods using recently produced crops,
including rice, sesame seeds, and jaggery. It is known as “Pongal” in South
India.
Life Skills and Values
Food should not be wasted. Wasting food is an unhealthy habit. Every day
millions of children go to bed without food.
Do not waste food or drinking water. Fill your plate with as much food as
you can eat.
Develop the habit of avoiding food wastage in your family.
