We can build strong bridges because of the invention of concrete and steel.
Modern bridges are strong enough to bear the weight of vehicles and pedestrians.
The bridges are now built out of bricks and stones. They
have a concrete and steel framework. They have two ends
with supports. Pliers, or support pillars, are placed in
between long bridges to provide extra support.
There are different types of bridges. They are of different
shapes and sizes.
Arch Bridge: This bridge is
semi-circular in structure. It
gets support from arch-like
structures.

Beam Bridge: This bridge is a horizontal
structure made of steel and concrete called
a beam and rests on the pillars. If the beam
bridge is long, it has many pillars to support
the beam.

Cantilever Bridge: The roadway of the
cantilever bridge is held in place by long
structures projecting out into the water. They
are anchored only on one end. This bridge is
similar to a beam bridge.
