Can you name the organs present inside your mouth? What do

they do for us? Let’s take a look inside the mouth and see.

Tongue and teeth are the two important organs present inside

          our mouth.

          Tongue
                                                                                                 Tongue and teeth
Tongue is a sense organ and helps us taste different kinds of

food. The tongue is a fleshy organ and has a large number of taste

buds on it. A healthy tongue is pinkish- red colour. You can see

your taste buds by looking at your tongue in the mirror. They are

clearer when you look at the tongue through a lens.

Taste buds on the tongue are of four types. They can sense the

sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes.

Tongue Keep some sugar on the tip of your tongue to feel the sweetness.
The back portion of your tongue helps to taste bitterness. The

sides of the tongue help us taste salty foods. Thus, each part of the tongue has a

unique role to perform in tasting.

            Did You
Know? All the taste buds are not located on the tongue. Some of the taste buds are found
inside the cheek and some on the roof of the mouth.

          Care of the Tongue

          Cleaning your tongue removes harmful
germs in your mouth, which can cause

          badbreath and plaque buildup. Brushing

your tongue is the best way to keep it clean. Tongue cleaning
