The germs on your tongue can produce bad breath and affect your sense of taste.
If the germs spread, your tongue may turn white, yellow, or even black. So, when
brushing your teeth, take a few extra seconds to brush your tongue.
Teeth
The teeth are the hardest organ of our body. They are fixed in the jaw and covered
by the gums in our mouth. They help us to bite and chew food. They help us to
speak clearly and give good shape to our faces.
Sets of Teeth
We have two sets of teeth in our lifetime. Newborn babies get
their first tooth when they are six months old. By the time a child
is 2 ½ years old, they have 20 teeth, 10 teeth each in upper jaw
and lower jaw. These are the first set of teeth. They are known as
milk teeth or temporary teeth. Milk teeth
Between the ages of 6 and 12, milk teeth fall out one by one and the new one
grow in their place. By the time the child is 13 or 14 years
old, the permanent teeth replace the milk teeth.
Permanent teeth are the second set of teeth. An adult
human has 32 permanent teeth, 16 are in the upper jaw
and 16 in the lower jaw.
