We know that animals are living things. Like all living things they too need

food to live , to grow, to be healthy, to move from one place to another and

to do various activities.

Sources of Food for Animals

Animals cannot prepare their own food. The food of animals comes directly

or indirectly from the plants. Animals eat plants and other animals.

Eating Habits of Animals

Different animals eat different types of food. Animals also have different

ways of eating their food. Based on the type of the food they eat, animals

are grouped into three types – Herbivores, Carnivores and Omnivores.

Herbivores

Some animals eat only plants. Animals that eat only plants are called

herbivores or plant-eating animals. Examples - Cow, Horse, Goat, Zebra

etc.
