Minerals
Minerals are resources that are found naturally under the earth’s crust. They
occur along with rocks. Rocks contain different types of minerals. Minerals are
found in ores. Some minerals are also found in oceans. Minerals that contain
metals are called ores. Ores are rocks from which the metals are extracted. Iron,
copper, zinc, magnesium silver and gold are metals.
The process of taking out minerals from the earth is called mining.

Minerals found outside of the earth’s crust are used for a wide range of uses
such as providing gemstones for jewelry like diamonds, agricultural fertilizers,
and building materials like marble, slate, sandpaper and ceramic tiles.
