Some ways to conserve our natural resources:
• Do not cut forests.
• Make wise use of natural resources.
• Avoid wasting paper. Wood pulp is used to
make paper.
• Avoid polluting and contaminating water
sources, such as rivers and lakes.
• Plant more trees as they hold soil and improve soil quality for better crop
growth. They also keep the air clean.
Amazing A solar-powered power plant in Spain absorbs solar radiation during the day, and at
Facts night, it generates electricity for the surrounding area for seven hours. The energy
produced by the tower, which receives reflections from the solar panels, is 1,000
times more powerful than the sun’s rays when they reach the earth.
Let’s Recall
We see a variety of man-made and natural things around us.
Air, water, clouds, birds plants, animals are natural resources.
Natural resources are an important part of our life.
Natural resources are of two types – renewable resources and non-renewable
resources.
Renewable resources regenerate themselves by natural process even when they
are used repeatedly.
Air, water, forests and soil are some renewable natural resources.
Non-renewable resources are limited in supply and do not last forever.
Coal, petroleum, minerals and natural gas are some non-renewable resources.
The hardened remains of animals and plants are called fossils.
Natural resources should be used very carefully as we cannot replace them.
