          Some insects such as ants, termites and bees also live in groups called colonies.

          When an ant finds food, it communicates to other ants and they get together to

          drag the food to the ant hole.

                                Bees live in a beehive. There is a queen bee, workers and male

                                bees in a beehive. The queen bee is larger than others. It lays

                                the eggs and workers collect nectar from flowers. Male bees are
                                lazy and do not work.


                                Some animals enjoy moving around alone. Cats and dogs move
          and roam alone. Dogs usually do not like others to enter their territory.


          Animals Role in Nature and Human Life

          Animals play a significant role in both nature and human life. They help us in

          many ways. They provide food, medicine and raw materials to us. Cows, buffaloes

          and goats give us milk. Hens and ducks give us eggs. Goats, chicken and fish are

          eaten as meat.

          Animals are also a part of the food chain. They eat plants and other animals and

          maintain a balance in the ecosystem. Animals also pollinate flowers that help

          plants to grow fruits and seeds.


           Did You   Some animals, such as squirrels, help germinate the seeds away from the parent plants.
            Know?    It is beneficial to nature because it allows plants to move to new places, thus making

                     them more adaptable to climate change.

          Pet animals like dogs, cats, birds and many other

          animals  become  our friends. They make good

          companionship in our lives and keep us happy.

          They teach us about responsibility and love.
