example, the Asiatic lion is
found in the Gir forest in India,

the Galapagos islands.

India is a South Asian country with a rich cultural and natural history. Because of
its vast range of temperatures and landscapes, from the Himalayas in the north
to tropical forests in the south, it is home to numerous endangered species such

as the Asian elephant, tiger, and snow leopard.
India has implemented a variety of steps to safeguard endangered species,

including the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, which bans hunting and poaching
of endangered animals. In addition, India has developed protected areas such as

national parks and animal sanctuaries to help conserve habitat.
